Battle of the braids: how to 3-4-5 strand braids
Tutorial: French braid vs Dutch braid

Hey girl!

This is the second part of the braid basics series. Today, it is the battle between 3 braids. These 3 pretty braids are just a strand away with each other but create a unique hairstyles. Here are the tutorials on how to 3-4-5 strand braids. For better understanding, I numbered the strands for each tutorial.

Important: The designated numbers of the strands remain after the switches.
3-strand braid. In case you missed out on braiding, I will still teach you how to do the 3-strand braid. This is what they do on your pig tails since you were a little kid and I promise you this will be very easy.

Step 1. Divide your hair into 3-strands.

Step 2. Starting with the strand nearest from you we marked it the #1 strand, get it and place it OVER the center strand, the #2 strand.

Step 3. Now that you exchange the #1 and #2 strand. Get the strand farthest you the #3 strand and place it OVER the center strand, the #1.

Step 4. Continue the steps 2 and 3. Get the strand nearest you (in this case the #2 strand), place it OVER the center strand (#3). Now, get the strand farthest from you (#1) and place it OVER the center strand (#2).

Step 5. Do this all the way down your hair.

3-STRAND BRAID

4-strand braid. If you wanted an added volume to your braid without an effort this one is for you. It is almost as easy as the 3-strand braid plus one. One strand makes a big difference.

Step 1. Divide your hair into 4 strands. I numbered the strands from 1 to 4 starting from the strand nearest you.

Step 2. Get the #1 strand and place it OVER the #2 strand.

Step 3. Now, get the #4 strand and place it UNDER the #3 strand.

Step 4. Lastly, get the #4 strand and place it over the #1 strand.

Step 5. Repeat the steps all the way down your hair.

4-STRAND BRAID

5-strand braid. This braid will surely test your patience, focus and the movements of your fingers and hands but surely it is worth it. It might be overwhelming at first and seems like it's hard to do. They say, "practice, makes perfect". Try until you found out. It is braided gorgeously to perfection.

Step 1. Divide your hair into enormously 5-strands.

Step 2. We will start with the strand nearest you and marked it the #1 strand. Place #1 strand OVER the strand next to it, the #2 strand.

Step 3. Then, get the center strand we marked it #3 strand OVER the #1 strand (positioned 2nd nearest).

Step 4. Now, let's get the farthest strand, #5 strand. Place the #5 strand OVER the strand next to it, the #4 strand.

Step 5. By this time, the #1 strand is now positioned in the center of the 5-strands. Place the #1 strand OVER the #5 strand.

Step 6. Repeat the steps 2-5. Starting from the strand nearest you.

Step 7. Do this all the way down your hair.

5-STRAND BRAID

Yay! You did it (I hope you do). If you don't in your first try, it is okay. It always takes practice to do it perfectly. Do it until you nailed it and don't forget to show me your version. If you're a little bit confused about some steps, you are free to ask me. I'm just a comment away.
